Egyptian pharaoh reigning from about 1351 to 1336 BC; tenth ruler of the Eighteenth Dynasty; abandoned Egypt’s traditional polytheistic religion and introduced Atenism, a religion centered on the sun and the solar deity Ra (according to modern Egyptologists).
