Law of One Contemplative Retreat: An L/L Research Event

August 13–16, 2026

L/L Research is happy to announce the 2026 Law of One Contemplation Retreat in Crestone, Colorado! This particular event is a new iteration of our Coming Home series with a specific focus on practices of meditation, reflection, and contemplation. Please see the Format section below for more details.

Also please note: We hold this gathering in a cultural environment where even the Law of One readership is divided, sometimes passionately so, on hot-button political and social issues. This event’s container is designed to focus on the eternal principles of spiritual evolution shared by Confederation sources. We ask that all offerings be geared towards understanding, compassion, and healing.

Within this safe, stable, and sturdy container, the possibilities for opening our hearts together in the search for illumination and communion are limitless.

Begins: Thursday, August 13, at 5:00 PM MT Ends: Sunday, August 16, with an evening dinner

Where

Crestone, Colorado (about an hour from Great Sand Dunes National Park) at a beautiful venue called Blazing Mountain Retreat Center.

Elevation

Crestone, CO sits in an alpine valley that is 7,930 feet (2,417 meters) above sea level.

Format

Whereas traditionally our gatherings are focused principally upon creating a container for attendee contributions—a formula that fosters community, healing, and transformation—we have designed the Contemplative Retreat with a strong focus upon the practice of meditation. At heart, the intent of the Contemplative Retreat is to support a sacred space for going within to listen to the Creator in the stillness and silence of one’s being. However, it will not be a meditation-only retreat. We will still include space for attendee offerings, making it something of a hybrid between a standard open space and meditation retreat.

The retreat’s curriculum will be similar to last year’s curriculum and will include:

  1. Hour-long blocks of Group Meditation Practice: We will meditate for 30 minutes together as a group, at which time those who would like to get up and meditate individually for the remaining 30 minutes, whether in their own room or by walking meditation outdoors, will be invited to get up to do so. Those who wish to continue meditating in place as a group will also invited to do so.

  2. Noble Silence Breakfast: We will hold breakfast in what Buddhist tradition calls Noble Silence, a wonderful and surprisingly profound way to be together in the intimacy of beingness and shared space without necessity of sound vibrational complexes.

  3. 15-minute Mindfulness Transitions: Between time slots, we will ask attendees to move in silence with an active practice of mindfulness. Otherwise, silence is not asked during any other time slot outside of meditations.

  4. Evening Meditations: To conclude each day, we will hold an evening meditation + a period for discussion about meditation.

  5. Open Space offerings: These time slots are the same that many who have attended an L/L gathering have previously experienced. If you should feel so moved (we hope you are!), please come prepared with something you would like to share with the group. Given the purpose of this particular gathering, offerings connected to meditative, contemplative, or prayerful practices are particularly supportive; but the floor is open for anything related to the Law of One and the spiritual journey.

  6. Channeling: And what would an L/L Research gathering be without a channeling? The retreat will conclude with a Confederation channeling.
